Arm-of-the-Sea has signed an agreement with the Sloop Clearwater organization to begin the process of  transforming a neglected site on the Esopus Creek in Saugerties, NY into our homebase. The overgrown 1.5 acre property, dominated by the ruins of a nineteenth century paper mill, is adjacent to our current studios at Cantines Island, and also to Tina Chorvas Waterfront Park where we present the Esopus Creek Puppet Suite. Clearwater was given the property in 1999 and had planned to build a winter homeport for its historic sailing vessel. Their plans changed, however, and now we hope to creatively adapt the site for our Theater operations, as well as for community arts and ecology programs.  More updates this project to follow.
